Setting - There is still a certain amount of misunderstanding in league matches regarding “Setting”. In all games in the league which reach a score 20-all is then subject to “setting” in accordance with the rules. Please check this out in your handbook Rule 9C(i) on page 54. Recorded scores - Perhaps this has not been made clear. When “setting” of a game has occurred, the final result should be entered onto the score sheet. The score sheet should NOT be recorded 21 – 20, but should read 24 – 22, or 26 – 24 whatever the score should be with a maximum of 30 – 29. This does mean that some teams may be able to clinch an extra bonus point when all the aces are added together at the end of a match. Order of play in match – In order to avoid delays and wait for players to become available during a match, it is recommended that the “level doubles” be played first and then move onto the “mixed doubles events afterwards. In most case this means that all players are available when the second half of the match commences. Teams playing short – In the event of team not raising a full team, you are advised to drop the number one or two placing on the score sheet. By dropping the vacant place in the third place, means that the corresponding from the opposition using the same number, does not play a game all evening. |
