The second round of this years Blackburn Junior League was held at Norden Sports Centre on Sunday 3rd Feb with teams being represented from St Bedes High School, DACA High School, Blackburn Seniors BC and Rossendale Badminton League. As always the badminton on show was of a high quality, demonstrating the depth of talent with East Lancashire. Blackburn Seniors came out on top within both age categories on this occasion. Club Grants: Are You Missing Out?
To support your club, Badminton England is offering you the opportunity to apply for a club support grant of up to £500. The grant should be used to help your club develop and grow and can be used to increase the number of targeted sessions, develop your coaches, run an open event or develop a junior session for example.
Clubs must be affiliated to Badminton England and existing activity or applications that are just for equipment will not be considered.
Please complete and submit the short form below in order to apply for a small grant. This will then be reviewed and your local Relationship Manager will then be in touch. On approval, the full amount of grant awarded will be paid to the club. Clubs will be required to submit monitoring for the project.
Last year the average grant from the club support fund was £460 – get involved today!!

Is there anyone out there who would be willing to help organise a weekly badminton session to promote the sport? These sessions would be aimed at adults at a venue yet to be confirmed.
Please contact any of the committee members if interested.

This year 11 teams have entered the cup competition and it will be a knock-out, run on the same lines as last year.
Clubs should submit their teams to Richard Smith by 5:00PM on the Friday before the match for handicapping to take place.
The handicaps will be sent in the usual way, NOT to be opened until the end of the match.
The coloured score sheet is the official one and needs to be returned to jean in the usual way.
The white ones is for your own use and needs to be shown to the home team before the game begins.
The first round begins week commencing January 14th 2019.
The second round begins week commencing February 4th 2019.
The third round begins week commencing March 18th 2019.
The semi finals begin week commencing January 14th 2019.
The final will be played week commencing March 25th.
Teams that have games to fit in should go ahead and fix them up as soon as possible.
The cost of the match courts and shuttles is to be shared equally between both teams.

This years handicapped tournaments will be held week commencing 19th November at Norden Sports Centre, Rishton. Each event will begin at 7pm with the following events available:
Tuesday 20th November- men’s singles
Wednesday 21st November- level doubles
Thursday 22nd November- mixed doubles
Entry fees are £5 per player, per event and players must be registered with the Blackburn Badminton League. The closing date is 12 noon Wednesday 14th November. To enter the tournament, please email me the following details as well as your partners name, where relevant:

College has changed venue from St Wilfreds to Blackburn College Leisure Center (BB2 1LQ, new time of 8:00PM)

Lancashire fees are now due from clubs, £3.25 per player and the money and list of players either needs to be sent to Claire Banfield or given to Jean when clubs pay their league fees.
The Lancashire fees don’t need to be sent on until the end of October but Jean needs the league ones before the start of the season.
